Academic Tutor (Maths, Science, English & Geography)

Daily Rate DOE (AWR compliant after 12 weeks)

We are currently looking for enthusiastic Academic Tutors specializing in Maths, Science, English, or Geography to join Harris Academy Rainham. Starting in November 2026 (or earlier) through May 2027, this full-time temporary role is perfect for recent graduates looking to gain valuable classroom and school experience.

We are seeking passionate, approachable tutors who can bring high-energy teaching, clear problem-solving techniques, and individual support to students.

Responsibilities

• Delivering targeted small-group or 1:1 tutoring sessions in your subject specialism across lower school (and potentially sixth form)
• Planning and delivering structured interventions to help students raise their attainment and build academic confidence
• Assessing student work, tracking progress, and providing constructive feedback
• Adapting tutoring strategies to support pupils of all abilities, including those with SEN
• Creating a positive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment
• Collaborating with class teachers and department heads to align tutoring with current curriculum goals

• Specialism in Maths, Science, English, or Geography (ability to offer a secondary subject is a plus!)
• Ideal for recent graduates or aspiring teachers seeking school experience
• Reference History: Minimum 2 years of continuous employment/academic references (character reference required for any gaps exceeding 90 days in the last 2 years)
• DBS: An enhanced child DBS on the Update Service (a full copy of the certificate must be provided)
• Address History: Full 5-year address history
• Training: Willingness to complete mandatory E-Learning modules prior to placement
• Right to Work: Valid Right to Work in the UK (Essential

• Competitive daily rates based on experience (DOE), paid weekly and fully AWR compliant after 12 weeks
• Full-time temporary schedule with early finish Fridays (08:00-14:00 on Fridays; 08:00-16:00 Mon-Thu)
