Application Support Engineer – DevOps and Systems Administration

Project overview

This contract role combines production application support with hands-on systems administration and DevOps responsibilities, including support for EMEA site infrastructure. Responsibilities

• infrastructure, troubleshooting across application code, logs, Windows/Linux servers, virtual machines, associated services, and network connectivity.
• Own support tickets through resolution within agreed service levels, coordinate escalations, and communicate service impact, progress, and recovery clearly to technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Identify root causes and implement lasting fixes to reduce recurring incidents, working with support and development colleagues to prioritize improvements based on operational needs.
• Take over agreed EMEA infrastructure responsibilities through structured knowledge transfer, including site infrastructure; administer and maintain Windows/Linux servers, virtual machines, and associated services.
• Perform system health checks, patching, configuration maintenance, and capacity monitoring; carry out approved firewall and network configuration changes in coordination with infrastructure and security teams.
• Support backup and recovery procedures, certificate renewals, access management, and vulnerability remediation within the assigned scope.
• Assist with infrastructure migrations and upgrades, including testing and validation.
• Maintain clear runbooks, troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, configuration records, and operational documentation.
• Develop and maintain internal tools, API integrations, and application enhancements using C#/.NET and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Automate repetitive support, deployment, configuration, and maintenance tasks; improve monitoring, alerting, and observability to detect problems earlier and support safe automated recovery.
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, version control, deployment procedures, and rollback processes.
• Test and document changes, review code, and follow agreed security and change-management practices across application, deployment, and infrastructure work.
