AWS Cloud Solutions Architect (AWS Batch, HPC, CPU/GPU)

We are looking for an AWS Cloud Solutions Architect for a technology and R&D company to join the team responsible for developing and maintaining cloud infrastructure for a client in the geosciences industry based in Houston.

The client uses the AWS environment for advanced scientific computing, including parallel processing using CPU and GPU instances. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and automating existing infrastructure and supporting the client's teams with ongoing technical tasks. The role also includes participation in planning and designing architectural solutions, as well as direct collaboration with the client and a team of experienced AWS engineers.

What do we expect?

• Work mode: 100% remote from Poland.
• Working hours: 5 days a week, with flexible start times and availability until 7:00 PM.
• Cooperation form: B2B contract or employment contract.
• Client: A US company operating in the geosciences industry.
• Languages: Polish and English
• communication with the client is in English.
• Designing and developing AWS infrastructure used for parallel computing, including configuring AWS Batch (queues, job definitions, auto-scaling) and selecting CPU, GPU, and memory-optimized instances.
• Automating infrastructure deployment and management using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Python scripts.
• Configuring and securing the AWS network environment, including VPC, subnets, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints, and IAM permissions and permission boundaries.
• Managing data and access to it in Amazon S3, including between different AWS accounts, and working with Docker, ECR, and ECS container environments.
• Monitoring infrastructure performance, analyzing its utilization, and optimizing costs using CloudWatch and Athena, as well as handling queues and notifications with SQS and SNS.
• Deploying and supporting solutions in DEV, TEST, and PROD environments and collaborating with teams responsible for cloud operations, security, network, storage, and software development.
• Analyzing user needs, advising on cloud solution architecture, and preparing technical documentation in Azure DevOps Wiki.

Requirements

• Very good knowledge of AWS, particularly in security, network configuration, and cloud infrastructure maintenance and management.
• Practical experience in parallel computing using CPU and GPU processors.
• Practical knowledge of AWS Batch, including job queue configuration and resource auto-scaling.
• Experience working with Terraform and the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach.
• Good knowledge of Python, especially for automating deployments and managing AWS services.
• Knowledge of English enabling daily communication with the US client and knowledge of Polish.
• Independence, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to communicate with technical and business teams.
