Job description

For the House of Representatives, we are looking for an experienced Connectivity Engineer. In this project-based role, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing campus, datacenter, and hybrid network environments. You will be daily involved in resolving complex network failures, managing enterprise firewalls (especially Check Point), and setting up BGP connectivity and network segmentation. You will also contribute to the automation of network configurations and work closely with architects and project teams.

• Managing, monitoring, and optimizing campus, datacenter, and hybrid network environments
• Analyzing and resolving complex network failures and contributing to structural problem-solving
• Configuring and managing switching, routing, firewalling, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and VPN solutions
• Designing and implementing segmentation and isolation between different network and trust zones
• Setting up and managing BGP connectivity to internal and external networks and multi-homed environments with multiple internet providers
• Managing enterprise firewall environments, including Check Point platforms
• Implementing and managing Network Access Control (NAC) and 802.1X authentication
• Contributing to the renewal of the datacenter network and the connection to Azure Local
• Translating network and security policies into technical designs and manageable solutions
• Automating network configurations with Infrastructure as Code, scripts, APIs, and pipelines
• Contributing to monitoring, logging, lifecycle management, documentation, and capacity management
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, product owners, project teams, and suppliers
• You have a Bachelor's or Master's work and thinking level
• You have extensive experience with enterprise, campus, or datacenter networks
• You have experience with managing and troubleshooting complex and business-critical network environments
• You have thorough knowledge of routing, switching, and network protocols such as TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, and BGP
• You have experience with enterprise firewall platforms, preferably Check Point
• You have experience managing Check Point environments, including Gaia OS and ClusterXL
• You have experience with bonding, VLANs, and subinterfaces
• You have hands-on experience with BGP peering from firewalls
• You have experience with both eBGP and iBGP
• You have experience with multi-homed environments and connectivity via multiple internet providers
• You have knowledge of path selection techniques such as Local Preference and AS-Path Prepending
• You have experience with BGP in combination with BFD
• You have experience with ExpressRoute and VPN solutions
• You have experience with network segmentation, firewalling, and routing between different security zones
• You have experience with a NAC solution, such as Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, or similar
• You have experience with 802.1X for both wired and wireless networks
• You have knowledge of datacenter architectures, such as spine-leaf, network fabrics, and policy-based connectivity
• You have knowledge of SDN as a plus
• You have experience with network monitoring, logging, performance analysis, and root-cause analysis
• You have knowledge of network automation, for example with Terraform, PowerShell, Python, APIs, or pipelines
• You possess good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different technical disciplines
• You are willing to perform on-call duties
• You are CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, Check Point CCSA, or Check Point CCSE certified
• Independent: takes on work without needing every step to be signed off
• Accurate: errors in firewall rules or routing have a direct impact on the availability of parliamentary processes
• Communicative: easily switches between engineers, architects, application managers, and project leaders
• Proactive: does not wait for a problem to arise but identifies it in advance
• Stress-resistant: migration weekends and tight schedules are no exception
• Strong analytical skills: You understand complex technical issues and provide clear solutions.
