Data Warehouse Developer - BigQuery

3-6 month contract | Fully remote | Outside IR35 | Circa £400 per day

We're looking for an experienced Data Warehouse Developer with strong Google BigQuery expertise and a background working with large-scale transactional databases.

You will develop and optimise data warehouse solutions, integrating high volumes of transactional data to support accurate reporting and analytics.

Key responsibilities

Skills and experience

• Develop and maintain data warehouse solutions within Google BigQuery.
• Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines that process large volumes of transactional data.
• Write and tune complex SQL queries for performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Design data models to support reporting across large, complex datasets.
• Manage incremental data loads, ensuring accuracy and consistency between source systems and the warehouse.
• Investigate data quality issues and troubleshoot processing bottlenecks.
• Work with technical teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google BigQuery.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimisation across large datasets.
• Experience working with large-scale, high-volume transactional databases.
• A solid background in data warehouse development and dimensional modelling.
• Experience building ETL/ELT processes and integrating transactional source systems.
• Understanding of incremental loading, change data capture and data reconciliation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
