Within the Process Automation department of Waternet, a Database Specialist / PIMS-SVS Specialist is sought to provide support for the management, maintenance, and optimal operation of process automation systems. These systems play an important role in making process information available and processing it within various value chains, including drinking water supply, wastewater disposal, and water management. Reliable information systems are essential for efficiently controlling, monitoring, and reporting on these processes.

Additional specialist support is needed for the PIMS and SVS information systems. You will contribute to the continuity, reliability, and further optimization of these systems and their links with other information provisions.

The role

As a Database Specialist / PIMS-SVS Specialist, you are responsible for managing and maintaining information systems and database connections within the process automation environment. You ensure that process information remains reliably available and is correctly accessed by business information systems. You proactively identify risks to the continuity of information provision and contribute to suitable solutions. In addition to operational tasks, you fulfill an advisory role for the client and project teams. You oversee various technical disciplines and contribute to collaboration between involved parties.

Depending on the need, you provide both substantive advice and operational support within projects.

The assignment focuses on ensuring and improving the continuity and reliability of the PIMS and SVS information systems. The emphasis is on stable management, well-functioning database connections, reliable access to process information, and up-to-date technical documentation.

About the department

You will work within the Process Automation Services (PA) department, part of Stichting Waternet. Together with approximately 60 colleagues, the department is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing the process automation infrastructure. This includes its own network, associated systems and applications, and the technical facilities required for the reliable functioning of operational processes.

• Minimum 2 years of work experience with one or more of the following database systems: SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience with OPC connections.
• Minimum 2 years of work experience with accessing process information data for business information systems, for example, Power BI.
• Good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
• Availability for 20–36 hours per week.
• Experience with process information within industrial automation.
• Knowledge of and experience with historian databases.
• Specific experience with AspenTech historian databases.
• Experience with integrations between different business information systems.
• Knowledge of and experience with ETL tools, both on-premises and in the cloud.
• Experience with ITIL processes.
• Analytical: you can analyze large amounts of information and distinguish between main and minor points.
• Problem-solving: you independently come up with solutions for technical challenges and discuss them with your team.
• Accurate: you work carefully, have an eye for detail, and can identify and correct errors in a timely manner.
