Project overview

Data Centre Project/Deployment Manager

We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Project/Deployment Manager to manage and coordinate large-scale IT infrastructure deployments within live data centre environments.

This is a technical data centre delivery role, rather than a generalist Project Manager position. We are looking for someone with strong, recent experience working within data centres, who has a solid understanding of the physical infrastructure and practical activities involved in deploying technology on the data centre floor.

The role would be particularly well suited to someone who has developed their career within the data centre environment, for example progressing from a Data Centre Technician/Engineer into a Senior or Lead Technician position, before moving into Deployment Management or Project Management.

The successful candidate should combine this technical, hands-on understanding with the ability to manage end-to-end infrastructure deployments, coordinating teams, schedules, resources, dependencies, risks, suppliers and operational handover.

Projects will involve large-scale server deployments, network infrastructure, racks and enclosures, storage, structured copper and fibre-optic cabling, capacity expansion, technology refreshes, migrations and decommissioning.

You will be based Full time onsite in either Acton or Slough, working closely with the teams responsible for delivering and operating the physical data centre environment.

What We're Looking For

A key requirement for this position is recent and relevant data centre experience.

We are looking for someone who understands the physical data centre environment through practical experience and can comfortably work with technical teams responsible for infrastructure deployment.

You should have strong knowledge and experience across areas such as:

You will not necessarily be carrying out the physical installation yourself in this position, but you should have the technical knowledge and previous hands-on experience to understand how the work is delivered, identify dependencies and risks, challenge where necessary and effectively manage deployment activities within a live data centre.

We are therefore particularly interested in candidates who have progressed from hands-on data centre technical positions into Senior, lead, deployment or project management responsibilities.
