Electrical Engineer – Protection & Controls
Microgrid Controls | Power Controls | Behind-the-Meter
Remote – USA & Canada | Full-time
I’m working with a specialist power engineering consultancy supporting major projects across hyperscale data centres, microgrids, BTM generation and emerging energy infrastructure.
They’re looking for an Electrical Engineer with 8–10 years’ experience across power systems, protection, controls, generation or EPC environments.

Fully remote, with the client licensed to hire in both the USA and Canada.
Candidates with particularly strong experience in microgrid controls, SEL RTAC, grid-forming systems, BTM generation or hyperscale data centres may command higher compensation.
- Microgrid controls and plant-level controllers
- Protection coordination and BTM interconnection
- Governor / AVR tuning and power controls
- Grid-forming / grid-following inverter coordination
- Islanding, resynchronisation and load shedding
- SEL RTAC and plant automation
- Functional Design Specifications and control narratives
- Large-scale / hyperscale data centre power systems
- Electrical Engineering degree
- Experience with SEL, ETAP, ASPEN, CAPE, PSCAD or MATLAB/Simulink
- Strong power systems and protection fundamentals
- Exposure to IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus or IEC 61131-3
- PE/EIT and field commissioning experience beneficial
- $140k–$190k + bonus + benefits
