Jobbeschreibung

Expert VMware Aria Automation needed to industrialize the infrastructure offering catalog for its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) base, using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps. The role involves reducing environment provisioning time, managing Aria Automation content as code, and ensuring traceability and reliability of offerings.

Project overview

Context

Expert VMware Aria Automation to industrialize the infrastructure offering catalog of its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) base, in Infrastructure as Code and GitOps mode.

2 Data Centers, supplemented by VKS Kubernetes clusters.

Missions

The service covers Aria Automation components of the VCF stack and their integrations with the existing ecosystem:

Architecture Requirements

Description

The service covers four aspects, from the GitOps base of the platform to the MCO of the platform.

Aria Automation Platform as-code

Design and development of catalog offerings

Integrations and meta-orchestration

Governance, SRE

Skills

The profile sought is a confirmed Aria Automation expert with production catalogs, capable of making it a managed as-code platform.

Functional skills:

Working Conditions

  • Reduce environment provisioning time by replacing manual steps with end-to-end Service Broker catalog offerings.
  • Manage all Aria Automation content (cloud templates, Orchestrator workflows and actions, ABX, custom resources, policies) as versioned code in Git, promoted by pipeline between environments.
  • Standardize and automatically control tagging, naming, security, and compliance at the source, within templates and policies.
  • Ensure traceability of each action (ITSM, CMDB, monitoring) and reliability of offerings (SLO per offering).
  • Prepare the roadmap towards VCF 9 and VCF Automation.
  • Cloud templates YAML, cloud zones, projects, mappings (flavor, image, network, storage), capacity and constraint tags
  • Offering catalog, custom forms, approval policies, lease policies, Day-2 policies, and quotas
  • Workflows, actions (JavaScript, Python, PowerShell), plugins, versioned packages
  • Event Broker (subscriptions), ABX, custom resources, and resource actions for non-VM offerings
  • Aria Automation hosts the catalog, governance, and orchestration of the VCF stack.
  • API-first. Each offering must be consumable via the Service Broker API or the Terraform provider, not just the portal. It must be callable by a future declarative control plane (GitOps Kubernetes).
  • VCF 9 compatibility. Design choices will be validated and arbitrated against the VCF Automation VM Apps model initially, then All Apps.
  • Implementation of the Aria content lifecycle: Git repositories, development, qualification, and production environments, promotion via Azure DevOps pipeline.
  • Automated testing of cloud templates and workflows before promotion (schema validation, test deployments, non-regression).
  • Definition of project structure, cloud zones, mappings, and policies, versioned and reproducible.
  • Day-1 offerings: standardized VMs, Kubernetes clusters, databases, firewall rules...
  • Non-VM offerings modeled as custom resources, with their Day-2 actions.
  • Day-2 actions: patching, resizing, disk extension, snapshot, decommissioning.
  • Service Broker policies: approvals, quotas, leases, Day-2 rights per profile.
  • Onboarding of services provided by other teams (OS, network, security, DB, middleware, ...) as reusable components.
  • ITSM/CMDB EasyVista integration: creation and closure of changes, update of CIs.
  • Integration or rationalization of existing automations into the target orchestration model.
  • Traceability and post-action: recording in monitoring (Zabbix, Dynatrace), notifications, execution reports.
  • Tagging, naming, security, and compliance standards, enforced in templates and policies.
  • Automated controls: drift detection between Git and the platform, deployment compliance, secret management.
  • Measurement of SLO per offering (success rate, provisioning duration), with a dashboard.
  • Maintenance in operational conditions of the orchestration chain during the service.
  • Support for teams integrating their application pipelines with the platform.
  • Aria Automation (Assembler, Service Broker): Expert, mandatory
  • Aria Automation Orchestrator: Expert, mandatory
  • Aria Extensibility: Expert, mandatory
  • VCF, vSphere, NSX: Confirmed, mandatory
  • VCF Automation (VCF 9): Confirmed, appreciated
  • Cross-functional work with security, network, DB, middleware, storage, architecture, and development teams.
  • Clear and maintainable documentation by an internal team.
  • Mastery of SRE (SLO, error budget), DevOps (CI/CD, shift-left), and ITIL (incidents, changes, problems) practices for integration into operations.
  • A VMware certification on Aria Automation or VCF is appreciated.
  • Daily Rate: €660
  • Location: Paris
  • Remote Work: 2 days per week
