FEL261112P7A1: Energy Market Operator – Capacity Mechanism (Brussels, 60% Remote)

Project overview

An international company in the energy sector, operating the Belgian high-voltage transmission grid, is looking for a Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM) Market Operator to reinforce its Market Energy & CRM Operations team in Brussels.

The CRM is a key measure of Belgium’s energy strategy to guarantee long-term security of supply. Capacities are contracted through auctions and, during the delivery period (since November 2025), their availability is monitored and their remuneration and possible penalties are settled. The team runs the end-to-end operations of the product: prequalification, auction, monitoring and settlement, reporting and transparency. Initially, the focus of the role will be on CRM auction, contracting and settlement activities.

The role combines operational execution, analytical thinking, stakeholder collaboration, technical file assessment and continuous improvement in a strategically important market mechanism. You will be supported by a team of experts eager to share their expertise, and over time you may also contribute to other Customer Operations activities and analytical domains.

Responsibilities

• Be in the front line for the execution of the CRM operational processes such as Prequalification, Financial Securities, Secondary Market, Availability Monitoring and Settlement
• Analyze technical, financial and operational dossiers submitted by Capacity Providers, review supporting documentation, calculations and assumptions, and translate technical findings into operational recommendations or decision proposals
• Progressively develop into a subject matter expert for specific CRM domains by building expertise on CRM processes, market rules, regulatory requirements and operational procedures, and share this knowledge within the Customer Operations team
• Produce periodic or ad-hoc reports on the functioning and results of the capacity remuneration mechanism, for internal and/or external use (e.g. for the energy regulator CREG)
• Contribute to the preparation, validation and reporting of CRM auction and settlement activities, including KPI reporting, performance monitoring, contestation follow-up and impact assessments for exceptional cases
• Proactively manage operational questions from CRM actors and internal stakeholders in close collaboration with the Key Account Manager Adequacy and the product architect
• Ensure the accurate respect of the organized process (automated and manual tasks) and involve the required persons and departments
• Contribute to the design and further evolution of the CRM product by sharing operational experience, field insights, lessons learned and practical feedback
• Support user acceptance testing, operational readiness assessments and validations of new functionalities

Requirements

• At least a Master’s degree with relevant experience in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics or a related field
• Knowledge of the energy sector is an asset, but not a prerequisite, provided you have the ability and motivation to quickly build expertise in complex market and regulatory mechanisms
• 2 to 5 years (preferably at least 1 year) of relevant professional experience in operations, process management, consulting, business analysis, energy markets, financial operations or a similar analytical environment
• Strong affinity with data analysis, structured problem solving, numbers, data and IT tools
• Structured, rigorous and detail-oriented, able to work with complex processes, regulatory frameworks and technical documentation
• Not afraid of complexity
• You enjoy an operational context, aiming to deliver quality accurately and timely while remaining pragmatic
• Very fluent in English and in French or Dutch, with a basic understanding of the other language
• Strong and proven data skills in Excel and good knowledge of Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of working with and/or programming in Python (or similar environments) for data analysis is an asset, but not a strict prerequisite
• Able to work autonomously and manage different tasks and priorities
• Team player
• Continuous improvement mindset and interest in simplification, digitalization, automation and data-driven decision making
