Financial Controller / Finance Manager — Freelance (5 months)

Context

An international tech group is strengthening its finance team in Portugal, which manages finance and tools for several group subsidiaries. The current person is leaving: the team, very busy with day-to-day operations, is looking for an experienced finance manager to take charge of financial steering and continue ongoing tool projects, including the deployment of the finance ERP in the subsidiaries.

• Start date: As soon as possible (November 2026)
• Duration: Until the end of March 2027, with probable renewal
• Location: Portugal, Lisbon or Porto, full-time on-site presence
• Profile based in Portugal (no travel or accommodation expenses covered)
• Working languages: French, English, and Portuguese
• Take charge of financial controlling for the scope: budget, forecast, monthly closings, reporting, and variance analysis
• Act as a business partner to local financial management and operational staff, relieving them of steering tasks so they can focus on day-to-day operations
• Take over and manage ongoing finance tool projects, particularly the deployment of the finance ERP in subsidiaries: planning, milestones, stakeholder coordination
• Ensure follow-up of these projects: committees, risks, progress reporting
• Bridge the gap between finance and IT: express business needs, challenge solutions, secure decisions
• Improve the reliability of reporting processes and tools throughout the mission
• Business school degree, Master's in Finance, or equivalent
• 8 to 15 years of experience in financial controlling / FP&A, ideally up to a Head of Financial Controlling or Finance Manager position
• Experience in an international group or a group subsidiary, multi-entity
• At least one significant participation in a finance ERP or reporting tool project (business side: key user, project manager, finance referent)
• Sage X3 is a plus; proficiency in financial controlling takes precedence over tool knowledge
• Professional French, English, and Portuguese, both written and spoken
• Based in Lisbon or Porto
• We are primarily looking for an autonomous, operational, and structured profile who takes the lead without waiting and remains comfortable when teams are under pressure
