Freelance Consultant / Project Manager – Humanoid Robot Simulation & VR (Remote)

Project overview

A university research institute in Germany working in AI and cognitive robotics is looking for an experienced freelance consultant / project manager to support a publicly funded research project. The work covers developing a complete simulation of a humanoid robot, building a VR application for generating NEEMs (Narrative-Enabled Episodic Memories), and running hands-on training for the institute’s research staff on the Multiverse simulation environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement a full simulation of a humanoid robot, ideally with a Giskard-compatible interface
• Prepare and develop a VR application for generating NEEMs
• Plan and deliver two 3-day online workshops for institute staff on using and extending the Multiverse simulation environment
• Coordinate with the research team and support project management throughout the engagement

Requirements

• Proven experience in robot simulation, ideally with humanoid robots
• Hands-on experience with the Multiverse simulation framework
• Familiarity with Giskard (motion planning / whole-body control) is a strong plus
• Experience developing VR applications for robotics or data-generation purposes
• Knowledge of NEEMs and knowledge representation in cognitive robotics is an advantage
• Experience designing and delivering technical training or workshops
• Experience working in academic or publicly funded research projects is a plus
• Very good English; German is an advantage
