Freelancer: Environmental Management within the Energy Transition

Project overview

Ensure a controlled and executable environmental process for energy infrastructure projects in the North of the Netherlands.

The Position

For projects focused on the expansion and adaptation of energy infrastructure in the North of the Netherlands, we are looking for an independent Environmental Manager.

Your assignment result is a controlled environmental process in which all necessary environmental conditions are met in a timely manner, so that projects can be executed without avoidable delays from the environment.

For this, you will deliver, among other things:

At the end of the assignment, the environmental process must be demonstrably in order, and the necessary conditions from the environment must be organized to execute the relevant projects in a controlled manner.

About the Company

The client is active in the Dutch energy infrastructure and works on expanding and adapting the energy grid. Due to the increasing demand for electricity, adjustments and expansions of the existing infrastructure will be necessary in the coming years.

Various projects are being prepared and realized for this in the North of the Netherlands, taking into account diverse interests from governments, landowners, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.

• an up-to-date stakeholder overview showing interests, influence, and agreements made;
• a complete overview of required permits, notifications, and approvals, including status and deadlines;
• timely completed and secured permit processes and conditioning studies;
• an up-to-date overview of environmental risks, including appropriate management measures;
• coordinated plans for accessibility, liveability, safety, and communication during execution;
• documented agreements with municipalities, landowners, competent authorities, and other involved stakeholders;
• a demonstrably coordinated approach for communication with residents, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders;
• timely identification and resolution of environmental issues that could affect the progress or executability of projects;
• an up-to-date and transferable environmental file in which decisions, agreements, permits, and relevant correspondence are secured.
• Bachelor's degree (HBO) work and thinking level;
• at least 3 years of relevant experience in environmental management;
• experience within infrastructure, civil engineering, or energy projects;
• experience with permit processes and conditioning studies;
• knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding spatial and infrastructure projects;
• demonstrable experience with stakeholder and risk management;
• experience in independently making and documenting agreements with municipalities, competent authorities, and other external stakeholders;
• the ability to translate complex environmental issues into concrete, verifiable results.
• engagement on an interim/freelance basis;
• workload is 32 – 40 hours per week;
• start date on short notice
• duration of the assignment 6 to 12 months;
• work area: North of the Netherlands;
• hourly rate in consultation, depending on knowledge and experience.
