Senior Java Developer

A large German bank is adding a team to a long-running platform project, built from Spring Boot microservices that communicate through Kafka and run on Kubernetes. The team’s focus is testability: making sure the whole platform can be tested end to end, rather than building product features. You’ll join as the senior developer in the team, working across the Java services, the deployment setup and the test tooling, alongside the client’s architects and business teams.

The project is expected to run for several years, so this is a long-term engagement.

Job facts: Direct client project

• Develop and maintain the Java and Spring Boot code that makes the platform testable end to end
• Debug issues across services, Kafka message flows and the test setup
• Build and improve the test automation pipeline, working with Kubernetes, Helm and ArgoCD
• Contribute to end to end tests with Playwright and TypeScript
• Integrate test tooling with Jira, Confluence and ALM Octane so test evidence is recorded for regulatory purposes
• Turn complex business requirements into testable, automated scenarios
• Work directly with the client’s architects, test managers and business stakeholders, and challenge requirements where needed
• Senior Java and Spring Boot development experience
• Production experience with Kafka in event-driven microservice systems
• Microservices and distributed systems
• Containerised applications running on Kubernetes
• Experience working directly with client stakeholders on complex business requirements
• Fluent German
• Helm and ArgoCD
• Playwright and TypeScript (can be learned on the job)
• Angular
• PostgreSQL, Liquibase and Flyway
• BDD with Gauge or Taiko
• ALM Octane
• Banking or financial services experience
