Assignment Description

Within the DevOps team Search, there is a need for a Java DevOps engineer/developer who independently delivers concrete results per sprint in close collaboration with the other members of the Agile team. Additionally, the members of the DevOps team are jointly responsible for the management of the Search platform. KOOP is therefore looking for an experienced Java DevOps engineer/developer who collaborates within the team with independent responsibility (delivering well-functioning code).

Under the direction of KOOP, the entire team is responsible for both the further development and the management of the Search platform. In addition to delivering products (i.e., functionality), the Java DevOps engineer/developer must make a proactive contribution to testing, drafting, and thinking about KOOP-wide development guidelines. This is done under the direction of a KOOP Software Architect. KOOP wants to implement improvements to elevate both the quality of the software and the quality of the development process to a higher level.

By using the Agile development methodology, KOOP wants to fulfill an important prerequisite for this. Being able to collaborate well within a multidisciplinary Agile DevOps team and experience working in an Agile environment are important skills.

Background of the assignment

Ensuring good accessibility and findability of the large amounts of government information that KOOP publishes naturally centers around good search functionality. In the coming years, we want to jointly further develop our existing search platforms, based on MarkLogic and Solr, into a generic and innovative platform service called Search. Because we are publishing more and more information, it is a challenge to guide our end-users to the information they are looking for. This means we must integrate innovative technology in the field of AI, knowledge models, and linked data into the Search platform service.

In the DevOps team Search, development is done with Java, XSLT, and XQuery. As a DevOps developer, you maintain and renew the Search platform service. Based on user stories, you ensure that the desired functionalities are implemented. With your knowledge and experience, you always make the choice how the requirements and wishes can best be technically implemented. There is a lot of freedom in this, and active thinking and anticipation are highly valued. In addition, the DevOps team is also responsible for daily operations and any incidents.

Requirements

Only submit Dutch-language CVs with a maximum of 5 pages.

Knowledge of or experience with search technologies, preferably Apache Solr and/or Marklogic

Minimum HBO work and thinking level

Candidate has their own (development) laptop with security, encrypted hard drive (encryption), antivirus software, a stable internet connection for the work to be performed

Experience as a Java developer in transactional applications (5 years)

Wishes

Level of experience as a Java developer

Level of experience in development in the Cloud

Level of experience with Spring, Jenkins.

Level of experience in software development on an Enterprise Search Engine (preferably Solr and/or Marklogic)

Additional Information

When you, as a supplier, offer a professional to us and they are placed, we will need information from you as a contracting party, including regarding the Chain and Principal Liability Act (Wet keten- en inlenersaansprakelijkheid). The 'WKA' aims to prevent abuse in the remittance of payroll taxes at all links in the chain; from supplier to client. We cover these risks for our clients through a blocked account, the G-rekening. This is an account to which a portion of the invoice amount is deposited and from which you can pay payroll taxes and VAT to the Tax Authorities.

The percentage to be deposited depends on whether you have a SNA certification (NEN-4400-1 or NEN-4400-2) and whether your company is established in the Netherlands or abroad. You can apply for the G-rekening from the Tax Authorities. If you cannot obtain a G-rekening (and you can provide proof of this from the Tax Authorities), you also have the option to provide an accountant's statement (assurance report regarding personnel lending) every quarter. In this, a certified accountant (AA or RA) will issue a statement about the correctness, completeness, and timeliness of the remittances.
