Assignment description
Lead Enterprise Architect
Give direction to the digital future of the energy network
Enexis faces one of the biggest societal challenges of our time: the energy transition. As a regional network operator, we play a central role in realizing a sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy system for the Netherlands. At the same time, the challenges are growing. Grid congestion, electrification, decentralization, cybersecurity, and a shortage of people and resources demand fundamental changes in the way we work.
To meet these challenges, strategy, organization, processes, data, applications, and technology must align better and better. This requires clear choices, a coherent architecture, and an organization capable of effectively realizing complex changes. A clear vision, target architectures, realistic roadmaps, and a mature Enterprise Architecture capability are indispensable.
As Lead Enterprise Architect, you will ensure this coherence. You will provide direction to Enexis's Enterprise Architecture, develop the Enterprise Architecture capability, and ensure that business goals, processes, information, applications, and technology come together in a consistent course. In doing so, you will help Enexis make the right choices today for the energy network of tomorrow.
With your energy, it's possible
You will ensure that Enterprise Architecture guides the formation and realization of Enexis's strategic objectives by monitoring coherence, synergy, and consistency across all business domains and value chains through a clear architectural vision.
You will strengthen strategic execution by developing and embedding architectural governance, target architectures, roadmaps, and architectural principles organization-wide.
You will work at the intersection of strategy, digitalization, Enterprise Portfolio Management, value chains, and organization-wide change.
You will ensure the further development and professionalization of Enterprise Architecture as a strategic capability within Enexis.
This is how you will tackle this challenge
The energy transition requires fundamental choices in business operations, digitalization, and technology. How do we ensure that investments, change initiatives, and technological developments contribute to Enexis's long-term strategy? And how do we maintain coherence between all the changes happening simultaneously?
As Lead Enterprise Architect, you will develop the vision, governance, and working method for Enterprise Architecture within Enexis. You will ensure that business goals, processes, information needs, technologies, applications, and lifecycle management come together in an integrated enterprise target architecture. You will steer the development of architectural products such as architectural vision, roadmaps, capability maps, target architectures, and program architectures.
You will be responsible for the further development of the Enterprise Architecture capability. You will ensure that governance, processes, collaboration, and architectural products function optimally and that architecture provides the right direction for strategic decision-making in a timely manner. You will connect Enterprise Architecture with Enterprise Portfolio Management, value chains, programs, and change initiatives.
In addition, you will advise the Board of Directors, management, and senior management on strategic issues related to digitalization, architecture, and organizational development. You will ensure that architecture is not only designed but also actually applied and sustainably anchored in the organization.
These are your responsibilities
Provide functional leadership to the Enterprise Architecture team and the Enterprise Architecture capability.
Manage the future-proof maturity development of Enterprise Architecture as a business function within Enexis.
Coordinate the development and maintenance of architectural products such as roadmaps, capability maps, target architectures, and program architectures.
Chair architectural forums, shape architectural governance, and ensure consistent decision-making within architectural processes.
Ensure coherence between strategy, Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Portfolio Management, value chains, portfolios, programs, and projects.
Actively participate in Enterprise Portfolio Management and contribute to organization-wide prioritization and decision-making.
Translate internal and external developments into architectural choices and long-term direction for the organization.
Monitor the architectural working method within the value chains and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to effectively apply architecture.
Advise on lifecycle management, technical debt, security, privacy, compliance, and process quality from an enterprise perspective.
Coach architects and contribute to the further development of the Enterprise Architecture capability.
This is how you approach it
You are a strategic thinker who can break down complex issues into clear choices and direction. You are a strong communicator at all levels of the organization. You move easily between the board, business, and IT, and can connect different interests. With natural leadership, persuasiveness, and organizational sensitivity, you create support without losing sight of coherence.
You combine vision with execution power. You are capable of setting a long-term architectural course and simultaneously ensuring that governance, processes, and people contribute to its execution. You know when to provide direction and when to allow others to take responsibility.
Furthermore, you have:
Master's degree level of working and thinking, for example in information management, administrative information provision, business administration, or a comparable study.
At least 10 years of relevant work experience in architecture within complex organizations.
Demonstrable experience with capability thinking, enterprise architecture, and architectural leadership within SAFe organizations and organizations with multiple business and IT lines.
Experience with domain-driven design, sociotechnical architecture, and emerging architecture.
Demonstrable extensive experience in translating (or having translated) architectural frameworks into workable and scalable solutions.
Demonstrable extensive experience with stakeholder management at senior management, director, and board levels.
Experience in coaching and developing professionals.
You will put your shoulders to the wheel with...
Your colleagues from Enterprise Architecture and Process Management, Enterprise Portfolio Management, LACE (Lean Agile Center), Capability Management, Business Architecture (Asset Management and Operations), value chains, system architecture, and process management. Together, you will work on the further professionalization of Enterprise Architecture within Enexis and the realization of the organization's strategic objectives. You will also collaborate with management, the Strategy department, the Board of Directors, senior management, and external partners within the sector.
The working atmosphere is professional, substantive, and collaborative. You will be given the space to shape the digital future of Enexis, bring in new insights, and further develop architecture as a strategic capability. Because you operate organization-wide, you will quickly build a large network and immediately see the impact of your work on the choices Enexis makes for the energy transition.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to further shape and expand Enterprise Architecture within Enexis into a mature strategic capability that guides the realization of the energy transition.
