Assignment description

We are looking for a Media Engineer – Media/VHS for an assignment focusing on backend services for media processing, packaging, and streaming in a large-scale cloud-based environment.

In the role, you will work on developing, deploying, and maintaining services that handle audio and video streams with high demands on performance, scalability, and reliability. The work includes adaptive streaming, packaging, transcoding, and optimization of media processing.

You will primarily work with Rust, Python, and Java, as well as C/C++ libraries in a Kubernetes-based environment. The role also includes operational responsibility for the services and close collaboration with other technical teams.

You are self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable diving into new codebases and complex technical specifications. You collaborate well across team boundaries and communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The consultant can work 100% remotely within Sweden.

• You have practical experience with media distribution systems, adaptive streaming, packaging, or transcoding.
• You have a good understanding of codecs and container formats, for example H.264, HEVC, AV1, AAC, MP4, or MPEG-TS.
• You have experience with streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH.
• You have very good knowledge of Rust, C, or C++.
• You have experience optimizing media processing for performance and resource efficiency.
• You have solid experience with backend services in large-scale production environments.
• You have experience with cloud-based and containerized environments.
• You have experience working with high-performance and monitorable pipelines.
• You have experience with Python or Java.
• You have experience with Kubernetes or equivalent container platform.
• You have experience with CDN-based distribution or other large-scale delivery solutions.
