Observability Engineer / Run Monitoring / Application Supervision

Project overview

Within the activities of a service dedicated to observability and Run monitoring in a large IT system environment, the client is looking for an experienced profile capable of ensuring the supervision, analysis, and operational maintenance of applications and infrastructures in production.

The mission consists of guaranteeing application availability, monitoring application and technical performance, and actively contributing to daily Run quality. Proficiency in Dynatrace is essential to ensure effective supervision, identify performance deviations, and produce analyses to support diagnostics during incidents, crisis cells, or as part of a proactive observability approach.

The consultant will be involved in the analysis of technical and functional malfunctions, the detection of weak signals, the proposal of improvement areas, and the follow-up of associated action plans. They will also contribute to the implementation or evolution of supervision systems, particularly through the creation of dashboards, monitors, and tracking indicators in supervision and reporting tools.

The mission involves a strong operational dimension, with the management of level 1 and 2 incidents, identification of proper escalations, participation in application shutdowns, restarts, and verifications, as well as carrying out planned interventions during and outside of business hours. The consultant must be comfortable with Windows Server, Linux, Unix/AIX environments, as well as common application technologies such as JVM, Apache, Tomcat, Wildfly, WebSphere, OpenShift, or MQ Series.

They will also participate in the deployment of the operational aspect within projects, the production and maintenance of operational documentation, and technical support for a piloting service center. Participation in on-call duties and regular interventions is expected.

Knowledge of Mainframe environments is a plus, particularly for intervening in resource monitoring, restart operations, failovers, or production interventions. Otherwise, a skills upgrade can be organized depending on the assigned scope.

The mission is site-based, with possible interventions outside of business hours and participation in on-call duties.

Responsibilities

System and middleware skills: Windows Server, Linux/Unix, VMware, JVM, Apache/Tomcat, Wildfly, WebSphere, OpenShift, MQ Series; Mainframe/TSA appreciated.

Analytical and rigorous profile: ability to exploit metrics, detect weak signals, formalize diagnostics, write procedures, and manage action plans.

• Ensure application and technical supervision of production environments.
• Master and operate observability and monitoring tools: Dynatrace, Zabbix, Splunk, ServiceNow, ELK/Kibana, Grafana.
• Perform proactive and post-incident analyses on application and infrastructure availability.
• Identify malfunctions, detect weak signals, and propose improvement areas.
• Create and maintain dashboards, indicators, and supervision monitors.
• Participate in N1/N2 incident management and crisis cells.
• Contribute to application shutdowns, restarts, verifications, and planned interventions.
• Participate in projects concerning operations, observability, monitoring, and DEX.
• Provide technical support to the piloting service center.
• Monitor Run indicators, analyze deviations, and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Write, maintain, and evolve operational instructions, procedures, and documentation.
• Participate in failover operations, on-call duties, and out-of-hours interventions
• Confirmed supervision/observability expert: essential mastery of Dynatrace, with good practice of Zabbix, Splunk, ServiceNow, ELK/Kibana, Grafana, and dashboard creation.
• Solid production/Run culture: N1/N2 incident management, crisis cells, operational maintenance, on-call duties, out-of-hours interventions, application shutdowns/restarts, and continuous improvement.
