We're seeking an experienced Order Management System (OMS) Solution Architect to lead the design, integration, and evolution of enterprise-scale order management capabilities for a major retail organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an architect with deep OMS expertise, ideally gained through IBM Sterling OMS, but we are equally interested in candidates who have delivered large-scale OMS solutions using Manhattan, Fluent Commerce, Blue Yonder, SAP OMS, Oracle OMS, or bespoke enterprise order management platforms.

The Role:

As the OMS Solution Architect, you will define and deliver the technology vision for end-to-end order management across omnichannel retail operations. Working closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and third-party vendors, you will ensure the OMS landscape supports a seamless customer journey from order capture through fulfilment, delivery, returns, and customer service.

You will play a key role in shaping architecture decisions, integration patterns, and future-state capabilities while balancing operational stability with business transformation goals.

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture for the Order Management domain.
• Design OMS solutions supporting omnichannel retail operations including eCommerce, stores, fulfilment centres, click-and-collect, ship-from-store, and returns.
• Lead architecture and design workshops with business and technology stakeholders.
• Define integration architectures between OMS, ERP, eCommerce, POS, WMS, CRM, payment, and logistics platforms.
• Produce high-quality architecture artefacts, roadmaps, and technical documentation.
• Evaluate OMS enhancements, platform capabilities, and vendor solutions.
• Ensure scalability, performance, resilience, security, and operational excellence across OMS services.
• Support delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle and provide architectural governance.
• Collaborate with product managers, programme teams, engineers, and external partners to deliver strategic change initiatives.
• Proven experience as a Solution Architect within retail or consumer-facing organisations.
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Sterling OMS or equivalent enterprise OMS platforms.
• Experience delivering large-scale OMS transformations, implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
• Deep understanding of retail order lifecycle management and omnichannel fulfilment processes.
• Strong integration architecture expertise across APIs, event-driven architectures, middleware, microservices, and cloud-native solutions.
• Experience integrating OMS with:
• eCommerce platforms
• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• ERP solutions
• Payment systems
• Logistics and carrier platforms
• Customer service applications
• Ability to communicate architecture concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with bespoke or custom-built OMS platforms.
• Cloud architecture expertise across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with modern integration technologies such as Kafka, MuleSoft, Boomi, or Azure Integration Services.
• Knowledge of retail inventory management and supply chain processes.
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification.
• Experience working within agile product and delivery environments.

• Rate: £650 per day Inside IR35
• Contract Length: Initial 6 months with strong extension potential
