Jobbeschreibung

As a Platform Engineer at EDSN, you will contribute to the sustainability of the Netherlands by enhancing the CI/CD platform and managing the Kubernetes platform. You will collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure efficient and reliable delivery pipelines.

Project overview

This assignment is only suitable for ZZP'ers who come to us on a construction, this will be explained by phone - Offering from another supplier is not allowed 40 hours p/w

At EDSN, you contribute to the sustainability of the Netherlands. Every day. Together with our partners in the energy sector. Working in the Cloud is becoming increasingly important. This also applies to our Development teams. Working in the Cloud is becoming increasingly important. This also applies to our Development teams. With your digital skills and connecting power, you play a major role in achieving this. Form the indispensable link in the energy market

Work full of energy

Guard is a team within the IT Foundation value stream. The team is responsible for the Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. These services are used by the EDSN DevOps teams to develop agile systems for supporting the Dutch energy market. An essential part of the solutions our team offers is Self Service (preferably declarative via GitOps). This means that teams can use building blocks without being directly dependent on us. Our team is service-oriented and has a lot of contact with other teams, so we also pay attention to the necessary soft skills.

In addition to Guard, teams Atlas, Base64, WhoAmI, CRT, Watchdog, and Fundamentum are part of this value stream. Atlas has the scope of cloud (AWS) infrastructure, Base64 has the scope of generic building blocks for integration, WhoAmI is responsible for Identity & Access Management. Fundamentum deals with data engineering and data analytics. CRT is responsible for the container runtime on which the applications land. Watchdog is responsible for our observability stack.

A core aspect within IT Foundation is delivering building blocks that ensure business agility and speed of realization (time-to-market). In short, agile solutions that can be developed in fast, short, and small iterations (integrate early & integrate often + working complex systems evolve from simple working systems).

We are a seven-person, fun, driven, and specialized team, which is easily approachable, both within the department and within the entire company, which makes working pleasant!

This is what you will do

Driven by making an impact

This energizes you

You are a broadly deployable Platform Engineer with a can-do mentality, inspired by an innovative environment like we have at team Guard. You are a DevOps person who truly owns the work you deliver.

About EDSN

Energie Data Services Nederland (EDSN) is a growing company that is rapidly professionalizing its organization. From startup to scale-up. EDSN develops a reliable and innovative ICT infrastructure for all regional and national grid operators. We specialize in collecting and making usage data accessible, which other market parties can then use to develop new services. With these data services, we are paving the way for the energy transition and thus for the sustainability of the Netherlands.

  • We have a fixed office day on Thursday. Additionally, we expect you to be willing to work a second day at the office.
  • EDSN works entirely based on SAFe.
  • Improvements to our CI/CD platform (GitLab): You will develop and refine our CI/CD platform with the aim of enabling teams within the company to work more efficiently and achieve better results. By constantly iterating and improving, you help create a robust and flexible technological foundation.
  • Management of our Kubernetes platform (AWS EKS): As the manager of our own K8S platform for CI/CD, you ensure that pipelines for the DevOps teams run securely, reliably, and on time. You perform regular maintenance and implement best practices to ensure the gateway performs optimally.
  • Expansion of CI/CD platform capabilities: You will work on expanding the CI/CD infrastructure to meet the growing demand from the DevOps teams. By ensuring scalability and reliability, you contribute to the resilience of the system.
  • Collaboration and backlog management: You will work closely with the team and the product owner to ensure that the task backlog is well managed and prepared for execution. Through effective communication and planning, you ensure that the team can achieve its goals and deliver value to the organization.
  • Collaboration with DevOps teams: You will collaborate with other DevOps teams to ensure that the developed building blocks and infrastructures seamlessly align with the needs of other teams. Through consultation and collaboration, you help create an integrated ecosystem of tools and processes.
  • Implementation of CI/CD pipelines and GitOps process: You will build and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to bring applications to production quickly and reliably. Using a declarative GitOps process, such as Helm and Argo, you automate deployments and ensure consistent and repeatable releases.
  • You have a curious mind when it comes to exploring new technologies;
  • You are naturally a team player and enjoy collaborating on complex technical challenges;
  • In-depth, hands-on experience managing a CI/CD platform at scale (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions/Enterprise, or Azure DevOps), including pipelines, runners/agents, and platform management. Experience with GitLab specifically is a plus, but not a hard requirement;
  • Experience with AWS, preferably with EKS, IAM, and networking;
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and managing cloud environments at scale;
  • Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, and containerization;
  • Experience with GitOps principles and tooling like ArgoCD;
  • Experience with Linux platforms and automation;
  • Experience with scripting (preferably Python or Bash);
  • Affinity with security, compliance, and further automating security controls within the development pipeline.
  • Experience with large-scale management of a Git-based CI/CD platform (GitLab, GitHub Enterprise, or Azure DevOps), including groups/organizations, projects, and integrations;
  • Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana and Prometheus;
  • Experience with Renovate and JFrog Artifactory or similar tooling for dependency management and software supply chain automation;
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, including identity and access management;
  • Knowledge of or experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC);
  • Knowledge of or experience with software supply chain security and SLSA (Supply-chain Levels for Software Artifacts).
