Stedin is looking for a Product Owner MLOps. (Freelancer IS POSSIBLE - Secondment NOT) Indicative hourly rate is €90,- all-in, excluding VAT.

Stedin is looking for a Product Owner MLOps who will take ownership of our MLOps products, thereby accelerating, standardizing, and securing the process from data science use case to production. You will work in the Machine Learning Engineering team within the Data Office. This is a new role with significant impact within the organization.

Who are you:

You are an energetic medior–senior Product Owner with at least a Bachelor's degree level and at least three years of experience in product ownership within MLOps or data science. You are comfortable at the intersection of technology and organization. You effortlessly gather information from diverse stakeholders and translate needs into a clear backlog and roadmap. You are a natural connector: you build trust, weigh different interests, and convince without pushing. With your structure and focus, you bring calm to complex projects; you prioritize purposefully and keep the team sharp on impact.

You enjoy collaboration, enthuse colleagues, and create support for change. At the same time, you are practical and results-oriented: you set up feedback loops, monitor adoption, and adjust where necessary. You communicate clearly in Dutch and English, switch smoothly between strategic thinking and operational execution, and take responsibility for the platform's success.

Our team and culture:

You will join a driven team of approximately 12 colleagues — machine learning engineers and MLOps specialists — where collaboration and knowledge sharing are central. We work closely with the Data Science team and support decentralized teams throughout Stedin; your role as a connecting PO is essential in this. We are located in the heart of Rotterdam (Blaak). Between coding and planning, there is always time for a good cup of coffee and a short walk. On Mondays, we often go bouldering and share knowledge.

Monday and Thursday are our office days, so you can optimally maintain the connection with the team and stakeholders.

Become the connecting link between data scientists, MLEs, and the organization, and help us bring our MLOps platform to the next level.

• Stakeholder management: gathering needs, aligning with decentralized DS teams and other POs within the Data Office.
• Gathers information on how the platform is used and where the needs of end-users lie.
• Collaborates with the Lead MLOps to establish a strong platform vision.
• Owner of the product backlog for the various MLOps products.
• Determines the prioritization of MLOps activities and aligns this with other POs (from DO DS and decentralized DS parties).
• Positions the MLOps platform within the organization.
• Proactively seeks new users within Stedin.
• Sets up and maintains a feedback loop with end-users.
• Conducts intake interviews with potential new users of the platform and determines, in consultation with the MLE Lead, what MLE capacity is needed for the use case.
• Understands architecture diagrams and is technically strong enough to participate in discussions at a platform and functional level.
• Can challenge developers on the feasibility and solution directions of user stories.
• Is aware of standard development practices such as git, CI/CD pipelines, various testing strategies (unit/integration/e2e tests), and releasing.
• The team works with Databricks, MLflow, Kubernetes, and Azure.
• Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodologies and demonstrable PO certification (e.g., PSPO, SAFe PO) is a plus.
