Project overview
Scope of Work Oue client runs several Looker Studio dashboards that track UTM-tagged paid media traffic through to ticket purchases on our e-commerce ticket portal. Some of that data isn't reporting correctly, and campaign-level revenue doesn't reconcile with what the ticket portal records. Until it does, they can't confidently judge which campaigns earn their budget. They don't yet know the root cause. The likely suspects the GA specialist should review include:
- Cross-domain tracking breaking between spacecenter.org and the ticket portal, dropping UTMs or session source
- Payment gateway or ticketing domains showing up as referrals and stealing purchase credit
- Purchase events missing, duplicated, or firing without transaction ID or revenue values
- Inconsistent UTM naming (case, spelling, missing parameters) splitting one campaign into several rows
- Google Ads auto-tagging and manual UTMs conflicting, or ad platforms reporting conversions on a different attribution model than GA4
- Consent settings, ad blockers or GA4 thresholding hiding data
- Dashboard-level errors: broken data source connections, blended data joins, filters or calculated fields Scope of services The work runs in four phases. Phases 1 and 2 are the priority; phase 4 continues on an as-needed basis through the end of the term.
- Audit (2 weeks): Review the GA4 property, data streams, Google Tag Manager container, ticket portal tracking and Looker Studio data sources. Pull a sample of recent paid campaigns and reconcile UTM sessions and GA4 purchases against ticket portal orders. Identify each point where data drops or diverges.
- Fix: Correct tracking and configuration issues within SCH's control, such as cross-domain setup, referral exclusions, e-commerce events and tag firing. Where fixes require the ticketing vendor or the web team, write clear technical specs for them.
- Validate and rebuild: Confirm fixes with test transactions and a follow-up reconciliation. Repair or rebuild affected dashboards so the numbers on screen match their underlying sources.
- Govern and support: Set up a UTM naming convention and builder that the in-house team and agencies will use. Train staff on the dashboards, then provide ongoing troubleshooting and new reporting as campaigns launch. Deliverables Deliverable What it includes Target timing Audit report Findings ranked by impact on revenue reporting, root causes, recommended fixes and an hours estimate for each End of week 2 Reconciliation workbook Side-by-side of UTM sessions, GA4 purchases and portal orders for sampled campaigns, with variance explained With audit report Implementation log Every change made to GA4, GTM or dashboards: what, why, when and how to roll back Ongoing Vendor and web specs Technical requests for the ticketing vendor or web team, ready to send As needed Corrected dashboards Working Looker Studio reports with documented data sources, definitions and known limits After validation UTM governance kit Naming convention, shared UTM builder and a one-page guide for agencies After validation Training One recorded walkthrough for the marketing team plus a short reference guide Before handoff The benchmark for success: campaign revenue in the dashboards reconciles with ticket portal sales within an agreed tolerance (for example, 5%), and any remaining gap is explained.
