SAP ABAP Consultant

Project overview

Together with our Business Partner, one of the largest companies in the consumer goods industry, we are looking for an experienced specialist to implement projects as an SAP ABAP Consultant. The project concerns a solution for detailed tracking and monitoring of IDoc processing in a global SAP environment, supporting supply chain, production, and commercial activities across multiple markets.

🕐 Openness to perform services during hours partially coinciding with US and Central American time zones (approximately afternoons and evenings CET).

💡 SCOPE OF SERVICES:

🔍 REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Analysis of the full IDoc processing cycle, including status history, reprocessing, and final statuses.
• Periodic acceptance protocols of completed service stages and participation in coordination meetings.
• Development of logic to distinguish between temporary errors, persistent errors, and correctly processed IDocs.
• Implementation of ABAP logic to retrieve data on IDoc processing and status changes.
• Delivery of SAP integration with LogScale (REST/HTTP, JSON payloads, authentication).
• Unit tests and support for integration tests and solution deployment.
• Technical documentation: technical design, configuration, operational notes.
• Minimum 6 years of practical experience in ABAP programming, including OO ABAP.
• Very good knowledge of IDoc and ALE: inbound and outbound processing, statuses, monitoring and reprocessing, custom processing logic.
• Experience in analyzing the full IDoc lifecycle, including distinguishing temporary errors from persistent ones and from correctly completed processing.
• Experience in integrating SAP systems with Azure Event Hubs, OpenTelemetry Collector, or other event and log collection platforms.
• Experience with SAP Focused Run, particularly in monitoring IDocs and interfaces and diagnosing problems.
• Experience in building REST/HTTP integrations from ABAP (HTTP client, JSON, authentication, error handling).
• Experience in delivering services in an international project environment.
• Experience with enhancements (BAdI, user exits, enhancement points).
• Very good knowledge of English (min. B2+/C1).
• Readiness to start cooperation immediately.
