Project overview

For upcoming modernization projects with mid-sized companies in the DACH region, we are looking for experienced Business Analysts (m/f/d) to join our expert pool. The work is 100% remote, and we welcome applications from anywhere in the world. Fluent German is required, as you will work directly with German-speaking business stakeholders.

A typical project looks like this:

Starting point

An established business application is being modernized and migrated to Google Cloud: backend services, an Angular web portal for customers and case workers, and a Flutter mobile app. The business processes are only partly documented; much of the knowledge sits in the legacy application and in the heads of the case workers. The business analyst turns this into a reliable specification that a distributed development team can implement without follow-up questions, and leads the business acceptance. Surrounding systems such as an ERP (e.g. SAP) are connected through well-defined interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Capture business processes and the current application with business stakeholders and case workers (interviews, workshops, process analysis)
• Structure and prioritize requirements and turn them into epics and user stories with acceptance criteria
• Describe the business data model, business rules and interface requirements towards surrounding systems
• Maintain the backlog together with the product owner and tech lead, and cut tickets so that a distributed team can implement them without follow-up questions
• Plan and run business acceptance, derive test cases from acceptance criteria, write acceptance reports
• Assess change requests and make their impact on scope, schedule and contract transparent
• Produce business documentation and training material for the transition into operations
• Mediate between business stakeholders, the development team and project management, prepare and document decisions

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a business analyst or requirements engineer in software projects, including at least 3 years in modernization or replacement projects for business applications
• Proven practice in writing user stories with acceptance criteria and in running business acceptance
• Process modeling (e.g. BPMN) and work with backlog tools (e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps)
• Experience with distributed, partly English-speaking development teams
• Fluent German and fluent English
