Senior Data Center Network & Virtualization Engineer (Cisco ACI / VMware NSX-T)

Project overview

Senior contract role supporting global data center operations and migration projects, working on a standardized architecture with Cisco ACI underlay and VMware NSX-T overlay. The engineer will troubleshoot physical-to-virtual networking interactions, operate VXLAN and routing protocols (OSPF/BGP), contribute to design/deployment/operations, and automate infrastructure tasks using Terraform and Python. Hybrid working is required (minimum 2 days onsite) with Lisbon preferred (Madrid considered). Fluent English is mandatory; Portuguese is required for Lisbon-based candidates.

Responsibilities

• The team manages data centers across America, Europe, and Asia, using a common architecture based on Cisco ACI for the underlay and VMware NSX for the overlay.
• The role will support daily operations, network and virtualization topics, and data center migration projects. The position is urgent and should start as soon as possible.

Requirements

• 8+ years data center networking experience
• VMware NSX (especially NSX-T) operations and troubleshooting
• Cisco ACI (or comparable data center networking technology) knowledge
• Understanding of network architecture and physical-to-virtual network interactions
• Troubleshooting across physical and virtual network layers
• VXLAN
• OSPF
• BGP
• Routing protocols (general)
• Infrastructure automation with Terraform
• Automation/scripting with Python
• Fluent English
• Ability to work onsite at least 2 days/week
• Strong communication skills; collaboration with international/distributed teams
