Senior SAP IS-U Functional Consultant - Utilities S/4HANA

Project overview

You will work on the entire IS-U value chain, in direct contact with the client's design partners and AI engineering teams, to decode, model, and abstract the real operation of utilities on SAP.

The role is at the intersection of functional depth and technical design: it is neither a configuration-only position nor a standard implementation mission.

Profile sought

You have deep functional expertise in SAP IS-U and a genuine technical sensibility. You can read ABAP, understand the data model underlying transactions, and are not afraid to open the debugger when the configuration screen does not explain the behavior.

You are comfortable transforming a vague functional requirement into a precise and implementable design, and modeling reusable data structures beyond the specificities of a business unit.

Our client is an innovative software vendor operating at the intersection of SAP, data, and GenAI. They are developing a platform that accelerates the transformation and migration programs of large SAP systems, with a forward-deployed approach.

As part of the development of its offering dedicated to the utilities sector, our client is looking for a senior SAP IS-U functional consultant to bring functional and process knowledge of the domain to the core of its product.

• Analyze and deconstruct complex IS-U landscapes with design partners
• Build an end-to-end understanding of the meter-to-cash cycle and customer lifecycle
• Translate billing logic, regulatory rules, and master data into structured representations usable by GenAI systems
• Design transformation strategies from ECC IS-U to S/4HANA Utilities
• Collaborate with AI engineers to transform business knowledge into product components
• Work on the Business Partner and Contract Account (FI-CA) scope
• Cover Device Management and meter-to-cash
• Handle Energy Data Management (EDM) and energy data flows
• Cover Billing and invoicing (rate categories, schemas, variant programs)
• Cover Move-in / move-out and market communication
• End-to-end IS-U process maps
• Structured models of billing logic and master data
• Transformation strategies from ECC IS-U to S/4HANA Utilities
• Functional specifications usable by AI engineering teams

• IS-U expertise on Business Partner, Contract Account, FI-CA
• Mastery of Device Management and meter reading
• In-depth knowledge of Energy Data Management and energy data flows
• Mastery of Billing and invoicing (rate categories, schemas, variant programs)
• Understanding of cross-module interactions SD, MM, FI, CO
• Ability to read and understand ABAP code
• Ability to model and abstract complex configurations into clean data structures
• Fluent English required
• Experience with ECC IS-U to S/4HANA Utilities transformations
• Knowledge of Convergent Invoicing and BRIM
• Debugging experience on cross-functional incidents (master data, device management, FI-CA)
• Enjoyment of problems without established playbooks and unconventional solutions
