Background & Mandate

For our end client in the Swiss transport and infrastructure sector we are looking for a Senior SAP Software Engineer for ABAP development on SAP S/4HANA.

The end client is replacing an existing business application and will map the processes for monitoring, inspection and measure planning of civil engineering structures in SAP S/4HANA. The focus is on SAP EAM processes around monitoring orders and PM notifications, in particular for the inspection of civil engineering structures and tunnels.

Inspection results, condition assessments, deviations and proposed measures must be recorded in a traceable way and made usable for downstream processes such as condition reporting and measure planning. The connection of mobile applications, different notification types and the further processing of measures must be taken into account.

To strengthen the existing agile development team we are looking for a person who quickly understands functionally complex processes and designs sustainable technical solutions. Software quality and software craftsmanship are not buzzwords here but shape the daily work. Collaboration takes place mainly on site.

• Gather and analyse functional and technical requirements and translate them into viable solutions for SAP S/4HANA.
• Analyse and further develop SAP EAM processes for monitoring orders and PM notifications.
• Develop solutions with ABAP OO and test them with ABAP Unit.
• Implement enhancements and workflows around condition assessments, inspection points, deviations and proposed measures.
• Take interfaces and the interaction with mobile applications as well as downstream processes into account.
• Ensure development quality with clean code, code reviews, automated tests and suitable test procedures.
• Carry out manual tests in the SAP backend and support rollouts and quality controls.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of a sustainable software architecture.
• Work closely with the product owner, business experts and other developers in the agile team.
• ABAP OO on S/4HANA: several years of practical experience in ABAP OO development for SAP S/4HANA.
• Tools (client requirement): willingness to work exclusively with the ABAP Development Tools (ADT) for Eclipse; the classic workbench is not foreseen.
• SAP EAM: experience with SAP EAM and maintenance processes, in particular with PM notifications.
• Data modelling: sound knowledge of SQL and ABAP Core Data Services (CDS).
• Frontend (client requirement): extensive experience with SAPUI5 freestyle AND SAP Fiori Elements; the role is not purely backend oriented.
• Way of working: experience in agile development teams; structured, independent and team oriented with high quality standards.
• Presence: at least two days per week on site.
• Quality mindset: software craftsmanship as lived practice
• clean code, SOLID and object oriented design patterns.
• Ability to grasp functionally complex processes quickly and solve them in a technically sustainable way.
• Language (mandatory): very good German at level C2

Nice to have

Important

• Experience with SAP S/4HANA EAM, in particular in the PM and/or QM areas.
• Knowledge of modelling and implementing inspection processes, ideally in asset management or for civil engineering structures, bridges and tunnels.
• Experience with mobile applications or their integration with SAP.
• Experience with ABAP Unit, code reviews and automated tests.
• Experience with Scrum and/or SAFe as well as knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
• Remote rule: 40% on site at the client / 60% home office.
• Extracts from the debt collection and criminal records are required (if resident in Germany: SCHUFA report and police clearance certificate).
