Job description

As a Senior Solution Architect, you will build a secure framework for our IT systems (Linux, Windows, applications, and databases). You will use the well-known CIS Benchmarks for this. Network hardening will follow later in the project.

Responsibilities

What are the results of the assignment?

At the end of the assignment, you will deliver the following:

A) Three Security Levels:

B) Detailed processes: Clear agreements for applying, monitoring, reporting, and enforcing hardening.

C) Working IT solutions: Configured tools for control, reporting, and enforcement.

D) Rollout: Hardening applied to systems in the cloud and on-premise. The hardening must be implemented automatically, monitored, and reported (e.g., using Puppet or Ansible).

E) Overview: A list of IT systems that the permanent teams will handle themselves later.

F) Knowledge transfer: Complete transfer of knowledge to internal teams through documentation and workshops.

• Create processes and standards: You will establish clear guidelines and processes for IT hardening.
• Write designs: You will write the functional and technical design for the tooling we use.
• Share knowledge: You will involve internal administrators and engineers in the use of CIS Benchmarks. You will give workshops and document agreements on our Wiki pages.
• Advice and discussion: You will lead the substantive discussions. You will critically examine arguments, identify risks in time, and propose smart solutions on paper.
• Level 1: Basic security for every system without loss of function.
• Level 2: Stronger security (may affect system performance).
• Level 3: The strictest security for highly sensitive components.
• Education level: HBO or WO work and thinking level.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Solution Architect.
• Demonstrable knowledge: Extensive experience with hardening via CIS Benchmarks and setting up management processes (PDCA cycle).
• Technology: Knowledge of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu), Windows, deployment systems (such as Puppet, Ansible, WSUS/SCCM), and version control (such as GIT).
• Skills: You are strong in communication, easily connect with engineers, and have a feel for the culture within higher education.
