This is an exciting opportunity to apply advanced statistical expertise to long-term ecological datasets, helping to improve our understanding of ecosystem change and shape future monitoring approaches.
The Role
You will provide statistical leadership across the programme, undertaking complex analyses to support strategic objectives and maximise the value of extensive long term ecological data. Working closely with environmental specialists, researchers and stakeholders, you will identify drivers of ecological change and develop an improved monitoring framework that is scientifically robust, efficient and fit for future needs.

Identifying and quantifying causal drivers of ecosystem change across multiple environmental pressures.
Evaluating and recommending improvements to monitoring and survey designs.
Developing revised monitoring approaches that reduce redundancy, increase statistical power and maintain continuity with existing datasets.
Applying a range of statistical techniques to analyse complex ecological relationships and quantify uncertainty.
Collaborating with stakeholders, including government bodies, environmental organisations.
Producing high quality technical reports, publications and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
Essential Skills and Experience
Degree in Statistics, Ecology, Environmental Science, Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Strong experience working within statistical, ecological, environmental or conservation based settings.
Excellent understanding of experimental design, survey design and statistical methodologies.
Experience analysing ecological or environmental datasets.
Proficiency in R, Python or SPSS, including multivariate analysis, inference, parametric and non-parametric techniques, and uncertainty quantification.
Ability to interpret complex datasets and provide evidence-based recommendations.
Experience reviewing and comparing alternative monitoring designs and statistical approaches.
Experience contributing to scientific publications or peer-reviewed research.
