Assignment Description

We are looking for a senior system developer within data warehousing and data engineering for an assignment involving the migration and modernization of a business-critical data warehousing platform.

The role involves independently analyzing, designing, developing, and migrating solutions from an existing data warehouse to the client's data lake/lakehouse platform. The assignment covers the entire lifecycle from mapping and requirements analysis to development, quality assurance, production deployment, and knowledge transfer. The work is done in close collaboration with the business, system maintainers, architects, and other technical stakeholders.

Requirements

The assignment includes, among other things:

We are looking for a self-driven and analytical consultant with a good ability to translate business needs into technical data solutions. The consultant needs to have a structured approach, good communication skills, and experience in driving complex data warehousing and migration initiatives in collaboration with both business and technology.

• At least 5 years of experience in analysis, design, development, and maintenance of data warehousing solutions, including dimensional modeling according to Kimball.
• At least 5 years of experience in ETL development in a Microsoft environment with SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSIS.
• At least 3 years of experience in business-oriented analysis and requirements work related to data warehouses, data sources, transformations, and business rules.
• Experience in migrating or modernizing from traditional data warehousing and ETL solutions to data lake, lakehouse, or equivalent modern data platforms.
• At least 3 years of experience in testing and quality assurance of data warehousing or ETL solutions, including data validation and anomaly management.
• At least 3 years of experience in production-oriented maintenance of data warehouses and ETL processes with a focus on performance, error handling, logging, and incident management.
• At least 3 years of experience in technical documentation, version control in Git, and knowledge transfer within the data warehousing, ETL, or data engineering domain.
• Mapping data sources, data flows, data models, SSIS packages, and technical dependencies.
• Analyzing and documenting business rules, data quality requirements, and critical information flows.
• Developing source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, and acceptance criteria for the migration.
• Planning and executing a phased migration to data lake/lakehouse while maintaining continuity in business-critical deliveries.
• Performing tests, quality assurance, and production deployment of new solutions.
• Ensuring data quality, information security, traceability, and access control throughout the solution.
• Responsibility for documentation, version control in Git, and handover to the maintenance organization.
• Identifying and managing risks, dependencies, and technical challenges during the migration work.
• Conducting knowledge transfer to internal resources and contributing to long-term sustainable maintenance.
