Project overview
Freelance Storage Engineer – Storage & Backup
For an international organization, we are looking for an experienced Storage Engineer to take ownership of the existing storage environment, following the upcoming retirement of the current engineer.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, monitoring and maintenance of the storage infrastructure, while providing operational support for the backup environment. You will work closely with the AX and Windows teams and provide technical support to colleagues across different countries.
Key Responsibilities
Required Experience
- Manage and maintain the existing storage and SAN environment.
- Create and manage storage volumes and allocate additional storage capacity when required.
- Monitor and manage SAN switches and ensure the stability and availability of the infrastructure.
- Support the backup environment, including incident handling and data restoration.
- Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Provide technical support to international teams across different locations.
- Collaborate closely with the Windows and AX teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Proven experience as a Storage Engineer, with solid hands-on experience in both storage and backup environments.
- Strong knowledge of SAN infrastructure, including SAN switches and volume management.
- Experience with IBM Spectrum Scale, IBM FlashSystem and Pure Storage.
- Ability to troubleshoot incidents and perform data restores when necessary.
- A proactive, operational mindset and the ability to work independently in a complex IT environment.
- Fluent in English.
