Senior Tax Consultant – Fully remote – $100 – $125 per hour – 6 month contract

I’m looking for an experienced tax professional at the Senior Associate to Manager level who can quickly contribute in a complex insurance company environment. The ideal candidate will possess both strong technical tax knowledge and the ability to independently manage projects, interact with business partners, and take ownership of key deliverables.

Required Qualifications

Highly Preferred Insurance Experience

• 5-8+ years of corporate tax experience, preferably with a Big 4 accounting firm, national tax practice, insurance company, or large financial services organization.
• Strong background in corporate federal income taxation, ASC 740 tax accounting, tax compliance, and quarterly and annual tax provision processes.
• Experience researching and documenting technical tax positions and communicating conclusions to management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, coordinate with external advisors, and balance multiple deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of an organization.
• Direct experience with life insurance company taxation.
• Experience preparing or reviewing insurance company tax provisions and deferred tax analyses.
• Familiarity with statutory accounting principles, including SSAP 101 deferred tax accounting and statutory reporting requirements.
• Understanding of insurance-specific tax concepts, including tax reserves, life/non-life consolidated return rules, DAC tax considerations, and insurance company filing requirements.
• Experience evaluating reserve changes and their impact on current and deferred taxes.
• Familiarity with statutory financial reporting and insurance regulatory environments.
