A client is seeking a senior profile with technical expertise and project management skills for a PTC Windchill PLM solution version upgrade project. The role involves analyzing the existing environment, defining the migration strategy, and managing the upgrade process.
Project overview
Context
As part of a version upgrade project for its PLM PTC Windchill solution, a client is looking for a senior profile combining technical expertise and management skills.
The current environment is based on Windchill version 12 and includes two instances, one of which mirrors an instance based in the United States. The architecture and dependencies between these environments will need to be explored further during the scoping phase.
The objective is to evolve the platform to a newer version, ensuring the security of the migration and business continuity. The project is currently being presented to the IT department, with a launch planned for 2027.
Responsibilities
Expected Deliverables
- Analyze the existing environment: versions, architecture, interfaces, specific developments, and technical dependencies.
- Recommend a target version and define the migration path, including any intermediate steps.
- Identify prerequisites, incompatibilities, and risks related to the version upgrade.
- Build the project plan: scope, schedule, workload, resources, responsibilities, and milestones.
- Support the IT department in technical decisions and validation of the migration scenario.
- Manage and contribute to technical upgrade operations, in coordination with internal teams and any external service providers.
- Coordinate operations on both instances and anticipate impacts on their mirrored operation.
- Work with teams based in the United States to ensure consistency of operations.
- Organize dry runs, technical tests, non-regression tests, and business acceptance.
- Prepare cutover, backup, and rollback procedures.
- Support the production deployment and platform stabilization.
- Ensure documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
- Technical status report and impact analysis.
