Technical Support Engineer

Project overview

We are looking for a Senior Technical Support Engineer to join an international team responsible for keeping business-critical applications stable, secure and reliable.

You will work closely with technical teams across infrastructure and application areas, troubleshoot production issues, improve support processes and look for opportunities to automate repetitive tasks.

This is a hands-on BAU support role where strong troubleshooting skills, independence and a good understanding of enterprise IT environments are essential.

• Provide advanced technical support for business applications in a production environment.
• Investigate and resolve incidents and problems of different levels of complexity.
• Monitor applications and workflows using tools such as Geneos/ITRS, Airflow and BMC Control-M.
• Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across UNIX, databases and connected systems.
• Work with UNIX, shell scripting, SQL and databases on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with Network, Database, UNIX and upstream/downstream system teams.
• Support change management and follow established incident and fault management procedures.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery tests and help coordinate remediation activities afterwards.
• Identify operational risks and support their resolution through to closure.
• Work with development teams on bug fixes and application improvements.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process optimisation and take them through implementation.
• Share knowledge with colleagues and support cross-training within the team.
• 5+ years of experience in Technical Support, Application Support or a similar IT role.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux and shell scripting.
• Solid SQL and database skills.
• Good knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Python.
• Practical experience with monitoring and/or scheduling tools.
• Experience with technologies such as ELK, Kafka and Zookeeper.
• Understanding of IT Service Management and Incident / Problem / Change Management.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity.
