Role Overview

We are seeking multiple experienced UI Developers to join a major UK Government digital transformation programme focused on delivering secure, scalable and user-centric digital services.

Working within a multidisciplinary Agile delivery team, you will design, build, test and support modern web applications that enable users to interact with complex government services through intuitive, accessible and responsive interfaces. You will collaborate closely with designers, architects, business analysts, test engineers and Back End development teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet user needs and government digital standards.

The successful candidates will be passionate about Front End development, user experience and engineering best practices, with strong experience in React-based development frameworks and modern software delivery methodologies.

• Develop modern, responsive and accessible user interfaces using Next.js, React, HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Produce clean, secure, maintainable and reusable code following established development standards.
• Follow a test-driven development (TDD) approach and contribute to automated testing strategies.
• Develop solutions that are open, reusable and easy for other teams to maintain and extend.
• Create and interpret HTML wireframes, prototypes and UI designs.
• Build and utilise API mocking frameworks to support development and testing activities.
• Integrate Front End applications with RESTful APIs and Back End services.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and showcases.
• Contribute to code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the team.
• Monitor, support and improve production services, identifying and resolving issues where required.
• Collaborate with user-centred design and business teams to ensure solutions meet user needs.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing activities.
• Support continuous improvement of development standards, tooling and delivery processes.
• Strong commercial experience in UI Development.
• Proven experience developing applications using React.js and Next.js.
• Strong knowledge of:
• HTML5
• CSS3/SCSS
• JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript
• Responsive web design principles
• Experience creating HTML wireframes and translating designs into production-ready solutions.
• Experience with API mocking frameworks and test tooling.
• Experience integrating Front End applications with APIs and services.
• Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
• Experience using source control tools such as Git.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Experience writing clean, secure and well-tested code.
• Understanding of software design patterns and engineering best practices.
• Experience applying automated testing and continuous integration principles.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and supporting live services.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
