The Ministry of Defence is seeking a UX Engineer to develop a new user portal for information search and retrieval. This role bridges UX design and software development, focusing on creating accessible, user-friendly, and technically sound interfaces.
Project overview
Over the next two years, a new user portal for searching and finding information will be developed within the Mission Information and Decision Support action line. To ensure the Mission Information Portal aligns well with user needs and requirements, the Ministry of Defence is looking for a UX Engineer who can translate these needs into an accessible, user-friendly, and technically high-quality interface.
As a UX Engineer, you will form the bridge between UX design and software development. You will combine knowledge of user experience, front-end development, and design systems, ensuring that designs are not only attractive and user-friendly but also technically feasible.
You will be responsible for:
You will work in a dynamic environment with a full change calendar and growing maturity in information management. You will report to the Product Owner Mission Information. Due to stakeholder management with various Defence departments and project teams, flexibility regarding the work location is expected.
- Translating wireframes, prototypes, and designs into working front-end components.
- Developing and maintaining a design system and component library.
- Ensuring consistent user experiences across different applications.
- Collaborating with UX designers to make designs technically feasible.
- Optimizing performance, accessibility, and responsive behavior.
- Implementing usability improvements based on user research and analytics.
- Supporting development teams in implementing UX guidelines.
- Testing interfaces on different browsers and devices.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the digital user experience.
