For our client in Vienna, we are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL administrator for a long-term project in an established enterprise environment. The focus is on the operation, optimization, and further development of business-critical database systems on a modern PostgreSQL stack.

Scope of Services

• Start: Immediately
• Duration: 12 months, extension planned
• Workload: Full-time
• Location: Vienna, 4 days on-site / 1 day remote
• Language: Very good German and English skills
• Framework: EU citizenship, security check by the client
• Contract Type: Freelance
• Administration and operation of PostgreSQL clusters in production, test, and development environments
• Implementation, maintenance, and optimization of backup and recovery solutions
• Performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of complex database systems
• Setup and support of high-availability and load-balancing solutions (e.g., HAProxy, PgBouncer)
• Installation, configuration, and maintenance of the underlying Linux servers
• Expansion and optimization of the existing system landscape

• Several years of project experience in PostgreSQL administration, ideally with EDB
• Very good knowledge of backup & recovery
• Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, and debugging in an enterprise environment
• Practical experience with HAProxy, PgBouncer, or comparable load-balancing solutions
• Good Linux knowledge (Red Hat, Ubuntu)
• Very good German and English skills
• Experience in highly available database environments
• Willingness to participate in on-call duty after familiarization
• Residence in Vienna or close proximity
