For our client, we are filling the position on a freelance basis:

DevOps Platform Engineer – AWS / Kubernetes / EKS

Responsibilities

• Building, further development, and operation of a scalable, secure cloud platform based on AWS and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Automation of infrastructure and deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Building, operating, and optimizing observability and monitoring solutions with Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Improving developer experience through self-service platforms, standardized development processes, and so-called Golden Paths.
• Ensuring platform stability, performance, and security, as well as documentation and participation in on-call duty.

Requirements

What the client is looking for between the lines:

A practice-oriented Platform Engineer with real operational experience: Not a pure DevOps conceptualist is sought, but someone who can independently manage, automate, optimize productive AWS/Kubernetes environments and also take responsibility within the scope of on-call duty.

A developer enabler with a platform mindset: In addition to technical expertise, the ability to make the daily work of development teams easier through self-service, automation, and standardized platform solutions, and to sustainably improve the developer experience, is important.

• Sound practical experience in the productive operation of Kubernetes clusters, especially with AWS EKS.
• Very good knowledge of AWS Cloud Services, especially EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, and CloudWatch; openness to multi-cloud architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and the automation of cloud infrastructures and deployments.
• Knowledge in the area of observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting with Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, and CloudWatch.
• Experience in Cloud Platform Engineering, ideally with developer experience, self-service concepts, Golden Paths, and a strong understanding of security, scalability, and stable platform operation.
• German language skills min. C1

Utilization: 80-100 %

Cologne / Remote (90% Remote) Onsite by arrangement for important dates like plannings etc.
