Responsibilities

Technical support in the development of ballistic PPE

Development and evaluation of protection concepts based on PE, ceramics, and corresponding composite systems

Selection and evaluation of suitable high-performance ceramics and PE materials

Optimization of material combinations regarding protective effect, weight, thickness, and mechanical properties

Evaluation of the interaction between ceramics, PE, backing, and composite materials

Support in material characterization, prototype development, and test planning

Analysis and evaluation of ballistic test results

Identification of optimization potential and derivation of technical measures

Consultation regarding manufacturability, quality, and transfer to industrial production

Technical coordination with development, materials engineering, production, and quality assurance

Expert Profile Sought

Several years of experience in the development of ballistic protection solutions

Sound knowledge of PE/UHMWPE and ballistic ceramics

Experience with ceramic or PE-based composite and protection systems

Ideally, direct experience in the development of ballistic personal protective equipment

Alternatively, relevant development experience with PE/ceramic protection systems in the field of protected vehicles

Experience with material selection, material characterization, prototypes, and ballistic tests

Very good understanding of the interplay between protective effect, weight, and material structure

Experience in development up to industrial implementation is an advantage

For a demanding development project, we are looking for an experienced expert (m/f/d) in ballistic protection solutions with a focus on Polyethylene (PE) and Ceramics in the field of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Project Content

The project aims to provide technical support for the development and optimization of ballistic protection solutions for personal protective equipment. The focus is particularly on protection systems and material combinations based on PE and high-performance ceramics.

We are looking for an expert with sound experience in the development, evaluation, and optimization of corresponding material and composite systems. Relevant expertise can be found not only in the field of PPE but also, in part, in the development of protected vehicles, provided that PE/ceramic-based protection systems were used there.

Experts whose experience in vehicle protection is exclusively based on armor steel or metallic protection solutions are not the focus.
