Project overview

My client in yacht building is currently looking for several freelance designers (m/f/d) for FRP design and mold making.

The focus is on the technical preparation and design of FRP components as well as the checking and adaptation of existing design surfaces. You will work closely with adjacent trades such as electrical, hydraulics, and other technical systems and support the technical implementation within the yacht.

Several qualified specialists are sought, with a clean and practical approach as well as good SolidWorks knowledge being particularly crucial.

Position: Designer FRP & Mold Making (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

• Technical preparation and adaptation of defined design surfaces
• Design and further development of FRP components and molds
• Checking the technical feasibility of surfaces and components
• Carrying out space analyses within the yacht
• Checking the integration of wiring, hoses, pipes, and other technical systems
• Creation and adaptation of 3D models and technical drawings
• Technical coordination with adjacent trades such as electrical, hydraulics, and mechanical engineering
• Support in the design of smaller stainless steel components such as brackets, frames, or handles
• Coordination with suppliers and external partners
• Revision and further processing of existing models and designs
• Working in the CAD system SolidWorks
• Support in the conversion and continuation of existing data as part of the PDM conversion

• Experience as a designer, technical product designer, technical draftsman, or in a comparable technical position
• Good practical experience with SolidWorks
• Experience in design and technical drawing
• Ideally, experience with FRP, plastics, mold making, lightweight construction, shipbuilding, yacht building, or comparable industries
• Alternatively, relevant design experience in mechanical engineering, vehicle construction, or plant engineering
• Experience with CATIA is an advantage, but not a must
• Good understanding of installation space, technical interfaces, and the integration of various systems
• Technical understanding of trades such as electrical, hydraulics, and wiring is an advantage
• Independent and structured way of working
• Willingness to undergo on-site training and then work remotely
• Good German language skills
