Project overview

My client in yacht building is currently looking for several freelance designers (m/f/d) for the area of furniture construction and yacht interior fitting.

The focus is on the technical implementation of furniture and interior elements for high-quality yachts. You will work at the interface between design, construction, and manufacturing, preparing the corresponding components for further processing in the carpentry shop and the CNC machine park.

Several qualified specialists with good SolidWorks knowledge and a good understanding of technical construction and manufacturing processes are sought.

Position: Furniture Designer Yacht Interior Fitting (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

• Design of furniture and furniture components for yacht interior fitting
• Technical implementation and preparation of design specifications
• Creation and adaptation of 3D models and technical drawings
• Preparation of design surfaces for furniture fronts and other interior fitting elements
• Consideration of the respective installation situation and available installation spaces
• Technical coordination with the carpentry shop and adjacent trades
• Preparation of components for CNC manufacturing
• Consideration of specific manufacturing processes and machine parks
• Coordination of designs regarding manufacturability and assembly
• Checking interfaces with electrical, hydraulic, and other technical systems
• Revision and further processing of existing designs and models
• Working in the SolidWorks CAD system

• Experience as a furniture designer, designer, technical product designer, technical draftsman, or in a comparable position
• Good practical experience with SolidWorks
• Experience in technical design and creation of manufacturing drawings
• Ideally, experience in furniture construction, interior fitting, yacht building, shipbuilding, or high-quality custom furniture construction
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and corresponding manufacturing processes is an advantage
• Understanding of collaboration with carpentry shops and manufacturing departments
• Good technical understanding of installation spaces and installation situations
• Experience with CATIA is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Confident use of 3D CAD systems
• Independent and structured way of working
• Good communication skills in coordination with various specialist departments and manufacturing
• Willingness for on-site training and subsequent work in a remote model
• Residence in the vicinity or willingness to travel by arrangement
