FREELANCE // Senior QA/QC Engineer – HVAC / Mechanics // Major Project // Linz (Austria)

Project overview

For a demanding technical major construction project in the greater Linz area, we are looking for an experienced Senior QA/QC Engineer – HVAC / Mechanics (m/f/d) starting November 2026. In this role, you will be responsible for both procedural quality assurance (QA) and site-based quality control (QC) for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, sanitary, and refrigeration trades.

Responsibilities

• Processes & Approvals (QA): Creation, review, and monitoring of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), technical submittals, R&I diagrams, and installation and execution plans for HVAC systems
• Site Control & Supervision (QC): Physical monitoring and inspection of piping and ventilation installation work (piping, ductwork, insulation, central units) directly on site
• Monitoring of HVAC trades regarding compliance with drawings, specifications, and installation standards
• Conducting quality audits and accompanying site inspections, pressure tests, leak tests, and acceptances
• Recording, documenting, and tracking mechanical/HVAC deviations, and monitoring the rectification of defects
• Active support of testing, flushing, balancing, and pre-commissioning of HVAC systems

• Several years of experience in quality assurance, quality control (QA/QC), site management, or commissioning in the field of HVAC / ventilation and plant engineering
• Strong technical foundation in mechanical building services (HVAC) on major construction sites
• Demonstrable practical experience with ITPs, Technical Submittals, pressure & leak tests, defect management (NCRs), and audits
• Hands-on mentality with high presence on the construction site
• Experience with BIM / LOD 400 and with complex major projects (e.g., data centers, industrial plants) is an advantage
• Fluent English skills
