Our client operates an ERP system on IBM i (AS400) that has grown over many years. For the maintenance, support, and further development of this system, we are looking for an experienced freelancer who works independently and wants to become familiar with the application long-term.

In addition to ongoing operations, the focus is on gradual modernization: converting existing programs to RPG Free, introducing graphical interfaces, and connecting via web services. You will work together with our internal IBM i team, which has been supporting the client for years.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, support, and further development of the existing ERP system on IBM i
• Analysis of client requirements, conception, and independent implementation
• Clean, traceable documentation of changes
• Participation in modernization: conversion to RPG Free, graphical interfaces, web services
• Coordination with the client's business department and our internal team (remote
• nationwide)

Requirements

Framework Conditions

• Several years of experience in software development on IBM i / AS400
• Very good knowledge of RPG (RPG III to RPG Free) or alternatively COBOL
• Experience in database modeling (DB2 for i)
• Analytical thinking skills and independent working style
• Experience in modernization projects (RPG Free, web services, GUI) desirable
• Fluent German, good English
