Our client is looking for an Istio / Service Mesh Consultant.

Project Goal: Conception and quality assurance of an Istio-based service mesh architecture to improve cloud portability.

Responsibilities

• Creation of a technical concept for the use of Istio Service Mesh in a multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic Kubernetes environment
• Evaluation of the architecture regarding cloud portability, interoperability, and vendor switching
• Definition of architecture standards, security requirements, and best practices
• Quality assurance and review of existing concepts and technical implementations
• Identification of technical risks and dependencies during migration between cloud providers

Focus Area: Architecture Consulting and Quality Assurance

• Very good practical experience with Istio Service Mesh, ideally from productive enterprise projects
• Sound knowledge of Kubernetes, container technologies, and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Private Cloud)
• Knowledge of service mesh security (mTLS, Zero Trust), traffic management, and observability
• Experience in IT architecture consulting, concept creation, and technical quality assurance
• Understanding of cloud portability, vendor lock-in, and migration strategies
• Experience with OpenShift, OpenStack, or sovereign cloud infrastructures
• Project experience in the public sector or regulated environments
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), GitOps, and CI/CD
• Desired seniority level: Senior Consultant / Cloud-native Architect / Service Mesh Architect
