Lead Platform Architect

Project overview

For an international transformation program, an experienced Lead Enterprise Architect is sought for the holistic architecture of a company-wide Digital Operations Platform.

The platform connects heterogeneous ERP, PLM, production, logistics, and other operational systems. The focus is on reusable solutions for integration, APIs, process orchestration, data, and semantic interoperability. The goal is a scalable, secure, and long-term maintainable platform architecture.

Responsibilities

Technical Requirements

• Responsibility for the end-to-end architecture of the Digital Operations Platform
• Development of target architecture, transition architectures, and realistic implementation roadmaps
• Definition and governance of platform, domain, and system boundaries
• Responsibility as Design Authority for overarching architectural decisions
• Evaluation of new use cases regarding platform fit, reusability, and technical feasibility
• Development and establishment of architectural patterns for APIs, events, integrations, and process orchestration
• Ensuring consistent semantics across APIs, events, data products, and AI services
• Steering technology decisions considering security, resilience, operability, costs, and vendor dependencies
• Translation of architectural specifications and non-functional requirements into actionable guardrails for delivery teams
• Coordination with Product Lead, Platform Engineering, Integration, Data, Security, and Domain Architects
• Support of implementation through to operation, support, and lifecycle
• Management of external partners and ensuring internal knowledge, documentation, and architectural responsibility
• Several years of experience in Enterprise, Solution, or Platform Architecture
• Experience as Lead Architect in complex transformation or platform programs
• Profound knowledge in distributed systems, APIs, Event-driven Architecture, and Enterprise Integration
• Experience with heterogeneous ERP, PLM, production, logistics, or planning systems
• Solid understanding of platform and domain boundaries, federated data responsibility, and semantic contracts
• Experience with cloud or hybrid architectures, Platform Engineering, and DevSecOps
• Knowledge of resilience, observability, security, and operational capability
• Experience in technology evaluations and transparent assessment of risks and solution alternatives
• Ability to enforce architectural decisions in international matrix organizations without direct line authority
• Very good English skills, spoken and written
• Experience in industrial or multi-site environments is an advantage
