Job description

Seeking a highly experienced Power Electronics expert for an aerospace development project. The role involves the development and optimization of high-reliability power supply and converter systems for aircraft electrical systems.

Project overview

An absolutely experienced expert in the field of power electronics is sought for a demanding development project in the aerospace environment.

The focus is on the development and optimization of highly reliable power supply and power converter systems for aircraft-bound electrical systems. The specialist will take on a key technical role in the design, development, and validation of complex DC/DC and AC/DC converters as well as powerful energy supply units.

A candidate is sought who not only brings theoretical knowledge but has already been responsible for complete power electronic systems from architecture to series or flight release multiple times.

Responsibilities

Independent development and design of complex power electronics for aerospace applications.

Architecture development and dimensioning of DC/DC, AC/DC, and DC/AC converters.

Development of high-reliability power supply systems with 28 VDC, 270 VDC, and 115 VAC / 400 Hz.

Design and optimization of power semiconductors (SiC, GaN, MOSFET, IGBT).

Development and optimization of switching regulators, PFC stages, inverter, and rectifier circuits.

Execution of power loss, thermal, and electrical simulations.

EMC and filter design, considering demanding aerospace requirements.

Development of protection concepts against overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, and thermal overload.

Execution of hardware tests, performance measurements, and system validations.

Technical responsibility for qualification and verification according to relevant aerospace standards.

Technical leadership in design reviews and collaboration with embedded, hardware, and system development.

Required Candidate Profile:

At least 10 years of professional experience in power electronics.

Several years of project experience in the aerospace, aviation, avionics, or defense environment.

Absolute expert knowledge in the development of DC/DC, AC/DC, and DC/AC converters.

Sound knowledge of SiC, GaN, MOSFET, and IGBT power semiconductors.

Experience with 28 VDC, 270 VDC, and * VAC at 400 Hz.

Experience in the development of power electronics in the range of 1–15 kW.

In-depth knowledge of EMC, filter design, and thermal design.

Very good knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspice.

Experience with circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, and hardware validation.

Knowledge of aerospace standards RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-704, and ideally DO-254.

Experience in independent technical responsibility for complete development projects.

Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a comparable field.

An absolute power electronics specialist is sought, not a general hardware developer.
