Mathematician / Actuary (Insurance, Cologne)

Project overview

We, emagine GmbH, are looking for an experienced Mathematician / Actuary (m/f/d) for our Business Unit Insurance in the Finance & Reserving P&C area, who understands and actively shapes complex financial relationships. You will work at the interface of controlling, risk management, and accounting, in an international environment and with direct access to top management.

• Determination and analysis of insurance technical positions in the balance sheet and P&L according to HGB, IFRS 17, and Solvency II
• Contact person for internal and external stakeholders on accounting and financial management issues
• Cross-departmental, international collaboration with colleagues on projects and closing processes
• Use and methodological and technical further development of actuarial reserving and projection tools
• Decision-making responsibility and communication of results to top management, auditors, and the international group headquarters
• Expansion of data streams, methods, and solutions for faster and more robust processes
• Completed studies in Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or Insurance Studies, ideally with an actuarial focus (DAV qualification started or completed)
• Practical experience as an actuary or financial actuary, preferably in non-life insurance
• Sound knowledge of IFRS 17, Solvency II, and HGB
• Experience with tools such as ResQ and Anaplan, as well as VBA and Python
• Very good German and English, spoken and written
• Structured analysis of new claims information and well-founded conclusions for reserve and financial issues
• High quality awareness, even in time-critical closing and planning phases
• Confident demeanor towards internal and external contact persons, team spirit, and a desire for responsibility
