PHP Developer with Agentic Engineering Expertise

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced PHP developer to further develop an extensive web application. The project focuses on complex administrative processes and is characterized by the innovative use of AI-powered coding agents.

In this role, you will implement new features, optimize existing modules, and translate functional requirements into technical solutions. A focus is on the productive use of coding agents for analysis, implementation, refactoring, testing, and code reviews. You will actively shape Agentic workflows: you decide which tasks are suitable for agents, how they are provided with the correct context, and how traceable, maintainable results are generated.

Quality assurance is central – you bear responsibility from architecture to functional correctness and critically review generated code for security and maintainability.

Prerequisites include several years of solid PHP experience, including with established legacy applications, as well as practical experience with coding agents in real projects. You should be confident in structuring tasks for agents and intervening when results go in the wrong direction. Initiative and enjoyment of knowledge sharing within the team are important.

Experience with JavaScript frontend frameworks for business applications, knowledge in the public sector or other technically complex domains, as well as your own extensions for coding agents are advantageous.

The position is 100% remote, freelance, and available immediately.
