Senior Backend Developer

Project overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer (m/f/d) for an exciting project in Cologne. The position is designed with an 80% remote share and starts in January 2027 with a duration of 18 months.

In this role, you will develop and optimize data-driven backend services and distributed applications. You will work with modern technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, and Apache Kafka and will be responsible for implementing asynchronous interfaces. You will also integrate data platforms and cloud services, build CI/CD pipelines, and automate testing processes. Containerization and operation with Docker and Kubernetes are also part of your responsibilities, as is supporting the rollout of new software solutions.

You bring extensive experience in Java development with Spring and Spring Boot and have sound knowledge of distributed systems and Apache Kafka. Practical experience with CI/CD processes, GitLab, and test automation is required. You are familiar with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm and ideally have experience with Snowflake and Google Cloud Platform. Basic knowledge of Big Data technologies and experience with AI-supported software development are advantageous.

We expect very good German and English language skills, teamwork ability, strong communication skills, and an agile way of working. You actively promote knowledge transfer within the team and contribute to productive collaboration.
