Senior Contract & Claims Manager – Power Plant Construction / Gas & Steam Turbines / OEM

Project overview

For a long-term new power plant construction project, we are looking for an experienced Senior Contract & Claims Manager with in-depth experience in contract and claims management for complex gas and steam turbine projects.

We are specifically looking for a profile that, in addition to strong commercial and contractual expertise, also brings a good technical understanding of turbine and power plant projects and can evaluate claims accordingly in terms of technical, schedule, and commercial aspects.

Responsibilities

Responsibility for Contract & Claims Management in connection with OEM contracts for gas and steam turbines

Management of complex contractual relationships within a CCGT power plant project

Contract management across the project phases of Engineering, Manufacturing, Delivery, Installation, and Commissioning

Review and evaluation of contract deviations, changes, and supplements

Identification, evaluation, and processing of claims and counterclaims

Analysis of delay and schedule claims and their contractual and commercial implications

Technical and commercial plausibility checks of claim facts

Preparation and documentation of robust claim positions

Support or lead negotiations with turbine manufacturers, OEMs, EPC partners, and other project stakeholders

Ensuring comprehensible contract and claim documentation

Accompanying contract matters until commissioning or project completion

Requirements

Several years of experience in Contract & Claims Management for complex power plant or energy projects

Demonstrable experience with gas and/or steam turbine projects

Very good knowledge of handling OEM contracts

Experience with CCGT projects is an advantage

In-depth experience in change, variation, and claim processes

Experience with delay/schedule issues and the resulting commercial claims

Strong technical understanding of turbines, plant construction, and the corresponding project processes

Ability to translate technical issues into robust contractual and commercial positions

Negotiation skills with OEMs, EPCs, and other international contract partners

Very good English skills; German skills are an advantage

Important

For this mandate, we are not looking for a purely legally focused Contract Manager. Practical project experience in the power plant or turbine environment is crucial.

The ideal candidate knows the technical side of gas and steam turbine projects well enough to independently and robustly evaluate complex claims regarding contract, technology, schedule, and commercial implications.
